ICF makes it easier to achieve NZEB – Amvic

The inherent properties of the Amvic ICF system make it easier for developers to meet energy efficiency, airtightness, noise and other regulations, according to the company’s Pat Martin.

As an example, he told Passive House Plus that he recently received a call from a developer who had specified Amvic ICF to express his delight that while other builders were struggling with airtightness and noise performance on site, the Amvic ICF system had inherently delivered both on his scheme.

“Noise regulations are a big challenge for developers, and Amvic ICF easily achieves the required sound performance between units, as well as meeting all structural and fire regulations of course,” Pat Martin said.

“In terms of energy efficiency, our Amvic 300 system also achieves NZEB due to its U-value, thermal bridging and airtightness performance – with the product’s concrete core being inherently airtight.”

Amvic Ireland has completed approximately 200 units in the Dublin area over the past year, all to the NZEB specification.

Pat Martin also explained that the product works perfectly with GGBS-enhanced concrete for any specifiers looking to lower the carbon footprint of their ICF build. “It’s ideal actually because GGBS flows really well, it’s very workable, and the insulated formwork provides an ideal curing environment.”

He added that Amvic Ireland is about to start work on a number of new schemes with major developers as it heads into the second half of the year. “The pipeline of enquiries is growing stronger all the time,“ he said.
