British government announces energy upgrade plans
Following the annoucement that the government is commiting 100 million euro this year to domestic energy refurb, the UK's climate change secretary Ed Miliband has announced that all British households will be retrofitted by 2030.
However, some environmental groups have expressed concern that the British government has yet to make clear how the plans will be funded, or when they will start to be implemented.
Interestingly, Andrew Warren of the Association for the Conservation of Energy has criticised Gordon Brown's government for changing its definition of insulation to include activities such as draught-proofing and the installation of new glazing in order to meet recent targets.
Meanwhile, the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats also recently recently announced policies for the upgrade of the British housing stock.
