New passive house design challenge for students

Colleges are invited to take part in this competition, which will provide students with the opportunity to learn about low energy and passive house design in a fun and dynamic environment.

The winning team will present their project to an international audience during the Passive House See the Light Conference on 7 November. The purpose of the charrette is to allow students to experience working in a team environment. Multidisciplinary design teams will comprise four students and one mentor.

The project will be based on a real life urban house project. The challenge will be presented by Dublin City Council on Wednesday 5 November, after which the teams have 24 hours to come up with the winning design and convince an international panel, chaired by Prof Robert Hastings, of the merits of their design.
